Urticaria or hives is a skin manifestation where the affected area will become bump like with redness and severe itching. Condition usually subsides in few hours to few days. This will not leave any symptoms or scar once it is subsides. Sometimes this condition can reoccur in different parts of the body repeatedly. Certain medicines, food items, stress, hot climate, insect bites are the common reasons or triggering factors. There will not be any reason in 50% of the cases.

Avoiding exposure to the known trigger is the most important step to be taken to prevent relapse. Seethapitha, a condition explained in Ayurveda, is similar to nonspecific urticaria. Cleansing of the body with panchakarma procedures will help in developing immunity against the allergen that cause the urticaria. Consumption of medicated ghee, oil massage all over the body with specific oil, purgation, pouring of medicated butter milk on fore head as a stream (takra dhara) are the procedures usually done to cleanse the system, especially the blood tissue. This prevents relapse.
