Wrist is a joint formed involving the long bone on the fore arm and the small bones of the palm. Carpel tunnel syndrome, wrist ganglion and arthritis are the major reasons for pain in the wrist.

A narrow rigid passage formed by the ligaments and bones at the base of the palm is known as carpel tunnel. Due to various reasons like repeated stress at the wrist or arthritis, the passage narrows and the median nerve passing through this tunnel is compressed. This results in pain, numbness and the tingling sensation at the thumb, index finger, middle finger and the thumb side of the ring finger. Pain usually increases at night and may radiate to the fore arm. Later it may lead to weakness of the hand and wastage of muscles in the palm. This condition is called Carpel-Tunnel syndrome.

Ayurvedic treatments can definitely be tried before undergoing surgery. We have found very good results in cases which are not advanced. Therapies like continuous pouring of specific herbal decoction on the affected area, pasting and bandaging of the affected area, continuous pouring and bandaging with specific medicated oil on the affected area along with appropriate internal medications is the line of management. Agnikarma (Cauterization) is also a good choice for faster relief.

This is a condition where the tendons controlling the movements of the finger get inflamed along with its sheath. This typically will lead to pain at the outer side of the wrist. Pain usually increases on gripping something tight and on rotation of the wrist. Squeezing water from clothes is one activity which increases the discomfort. Pain may radiate to the thumb also. Associated swelling and burning sensation are also seen along with the pain. Repeated stress at the wrist joint is the reason for this condition.

Ayurvedic treatments such as medicated paste application and bandage, continuous pouring of specific herbal decoction and oil, specific internal medicines will help in managing this condition. Agni karma (Cauterization) will help in faster relief from pain.
